‘2024 Research & Teaching Festival’ conference to be hosted for educators

LAWRENCE — The School of Education & Human Sciences at the University of Kansas will host the 2024 Research & Teaching Festival on February 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. CT in Joseph R. Pearson Hall (JRP) room 150. Sessions will focus on a wide variety of topics in the field of education & human sciences. Speakers will be given five minutes each to present on their topic, followed by five minutes for audience questions. 

This year’s conference will adhere to the following schedule:

  • 12:15-12:25    Meagan Patterson: Promoting Student Interest in Engineering Through a Research Experience for Teachers

  • 12:35-12:45    Brian Gordon: A Retro-based Taxonomy for NBA Logo Changes
  • 12:45-12:55    Nataliya Bredihkina: Team Dynamics in the NIL Era: Exploring Perspectives of NCAA Division I Student-Athletes
  • 12:55-1:00    Break
  • 1:00-1:10    Lena Batt: Framing Fiscal Crises in School Districts
  • 1:10-1:20    Quincy Johnson: Optimizing Athletic Performance: The Jayhawk Way
  • 1:20-1:30    Barb Kerr: Creative Communities in Iceland
  • 1:30-1:40    Nik Mitchell: Teaching Intersectionality: Cutting the Gordian Knot
  • 1:40-1:50    Sean Smith: Virtual Reality, Extended Reality, and Artificial Intelligence: Using Innovative Tools to Promote Learner Outcomes
  • 1:50-2:00    Susan Harvey: So Wasted!

The event is free and open to the public, and a virtual option will be offered for those who cannot attend in person. Individuals interested in attending in person or virtually are encouraged to RSVP now on the event page and mark their calendars. Registrants will receive Zoom log in information to the email used for registration.
