Swimming Pools at Robinson Center
Robinson Center at KU offers both a 25-yard Competition Pool and a 25-meter Lap Pool, and access to locker rooms (locks not included) and multiple water fountains. Organizations such as the Lawrence Swim School, Langston Hughes Elementary, KU Swim Club, and a variety of families/individuals have hosted multiple tournaments, events, and birthday parties at Robinson Center. KU’s Children’s Swim Program is also hosted at Robinson Center Swimming Pools.
Robinson Center Swimming Pools can accommodate tournaments and events of many sizes, some hosting more than 200 children at one time. There are eight lanes in each pool, and depths range from three to seven feet. The Robinson Center Dive Well is 12 feet deep and includes two diving boards, a 3 meter platform, as well as a 10 meter platform. Bleachers and other seating are available for attendees in the pool room and through a looking glass wall.
The minimum rental rate is $43 per pool per hour and includes two lifeguards. For parties of more than 50 participants, additional lifeguards will be required at the rate of $20 per pool per hour. In the situation where security is necessary (on weekends or after hours), an additional $20 per hour will be added to the charges. Rates are subject to change.
KU Swim & Dive Team
Robinson Center has been the home of the KU Swim & Dive team since 1967. They have won several NCAA Championships, and many NCAA athletes and Olympic swimmers have trained in Robinson Center. Both of the pools at Robinson Center are scheduled daily for KU Swim & Dive Team practices and meets; however, Robinson Center staff work very hard to accommodate all requests for swimming pool(s) rentals.
KU faculty and staff are welcome to participate in open recreation swim at Robinson Center.
