Summary

Kent Weiser assumed leadership as Athletics Director of Emporia State University in 1999. Throughout the past 19 years, ESU Athletic programs have consistently competed at the national level of NCAA Division II. Emporia State programs continue a streak of 15 straight years with at least one program finishing with a top 10 national ranking. The Hornet softball team finished NCAA National Runner-up in 2006 and 2008. ESU Baseball finished National Runner-up in 2009. The Hornet Women’s basketball was NCAA National Champions in 2010. A native of Great Bend, Kansas, Weiser earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981, and a Master’s of Education degree in Sports Management in 1992, both from the University of Kansas. He began his career in athletics at KU, where from 1981-88 he served the Jayhawks as Women’s Golf Coach, Ticket Manager, and Athletics Marketing Director. From 1990-93, he was the director of Development at Ottawa University, and in 1993, joined the athletics department at Oregon State University, first as Director of Corporate Marketing, then promoted to Associate AD for External Operations.
