Lee Johnson is a 20-year veteran of the sports industry and is currently the CEO of USA Diving. Lee began his career in sports with University of Missouri-Kansas City Athletic Foundation as an intern that was part of the curriculum in the Kansas Sports Management program. He left UMKC to work for Sprint in their Brand & Sponsorship Group where he was a part of the team managing NFL, US Ski & Snowboard, PGA, and Collegiate partnerships. Lee spent time in San Francisco with Gravity Television & Sports Marketing working on strategy for the Charles Schwab & Yahoo sponsorship portfolios. He was fortunate enough to return to Mt. Oread to work as Director of Marketing for the KU Athletic Department before taking a position as Assistant Athletics Director at the University of Texas – San Antonio. Next, Lee spent almost 5 years working for Red Bull North America in Field Marketing where he was able be a part of the growth of one of the leading energy drinks in the world. After Red Bull, Lee took the position of Vice President of Marketing for USA Gymnastics where he spent over 7 years before becoming the CEO of USA Diving in May of 2017. Lee resides with his wife Heather (KU ’97) and their five children in Fishers, IN.
