Biography —
Leon Greene served as a faculty member in the Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences Department at The University of Kansas from 1975-2019. From 1973-75, he was on the faculty at the College of Idaho and served as head tennis and ski coach. His early years in education involved teaching science, physical education, and coaching in two different school districts located in Missouri. During his time at KU, he served the department at various times as an Undergraduate Coordinator, Community Health Program Director, and Perceptual Motor Clinic Director. For many years, Leon taught courses for preparing students to enter the health and physical education profession. Other courses that he taught focused on preparing students to assist people with various disabling conditions. During the last several years, he taught courses in the Community Health Program. During his career at KU, Leon was an advisor and mentor to a number of HSES Doctoral students. Leon's research focus over the last 15 years was on the impact of physical activity on the health and academic performance of elementary school children.
