Program Overview
The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree in Exercise Science at the University of Kansas provides students with a thorough understanding of human movement, using components of biological, physical and health sciences to explore structural and functional changes that occur to the body on physiological, biochemical and biomechanical levels. The program's coursework is designed for students who want to complete an undergraduate degree and directly enter or advance in personal training, strength and conditioning, corporate wellness, military/law enforcement/first responder readiness, or a coaching career.
The B.A.S. degree program also prepares you for industry certifications and exams including:
- NSCA – Certified Personal Trainer
- NSCA – Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator
- NSCA – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
- ISSN – Sports Nutrition Specialist
- ISSN – Certified Sports Nutritionist from the International Society of Sports Nutrition
This is a hybrid program with online and on-ground classes at KU’s Lawrence campus.
